Community Involvement Public Education VCTLA strives to further public awareness on key issues affecting the civil justice system, such as the importance of juries and matters affecting equal access to justice. VCTLA members meet with local service clubs, civic organizations and schools to promote understanding of these topics. VCTLA members are also available to respond to media inquires and periodically author articles on legal matters of general interest which appear in local newspapers. Courts-Bar Relations VCTLA plays an active role in interfacing with the judges, judicial assistants and court's administrative personnel to bring about positive changes to the local civil justice system. Media Relations VCTLA is committed to promoting frank, accurate reporting of the civil justice system in a way that preserves the integrity of our jury trial system. To this end, we are proud to take an active role in representing the interests of consumers and attorneys at the Courts-Bar-Media Committee. This committee is a forum of judges, attorneys and representatives from the print/electronic media who gather regularly for constructive communication on issues affecting news coverage of the Courts. Acknowledging Judicial Excellence Ventura County is fortunate to have outstanding judicial officers. Each year, VCTLA honors one sitting judge as its Judge of the Year. In addition, VCTLA annually contributes a portrait of a distinguished retired judge to hang in the courthouse. Ventura County Law Library The Ventura County Law Library, located at the Ventura Courthouse, is an essential component of our civil justice system. In addition to providing attorneys with an outstanding selection reference materials, the law library is one of the few sources of cases, statutes and other legal publications available to individuals who are not represented by counsel. By offering these materials to the public, the law library plays a vital role in ensuring equal access to justice for all litigants. VCTLA is pleased to support the law library with contributions of money and materials. Return to top This site copyright © 2001 by The Ventura County Trial Lawyers Association. All rights reserved. |
